We reached Skagway and what an interesting place. We went to the National Park building in town and saw a movie about the gold miners and the different ways they went to the gold fields. One of them was the Chilcoot Trail and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police were worried about the miners having enough supplies to last the winter. So the RCMP made them take enough supplies for a year. That meant the miners had to go over the trail about 39 times to get all their supplies over the pass or they could hire someone. We took a city tour and drove up to the Chilcoot Trail. Amazing what hardy people they were. We also stopped to see the old grave yards where Soapy Smith is buried. Yes, he is a real character.
