Left Van Nuys, CA and headed north toward Yosemite. En route, we traveled through the fertile agricultural areas around Visalia. Miles of grape vines, almond & fruit trees, corn, cotton & semis full of fresh veggies.
Entered Yosemite and paid no entrance fee because we used our National Parks Senior Pass (the lifetime pass for US residents 62 and over-$10.00 through the park service.).
Inside the park we stopped at Tunnel View scenic overlook for views of Half Dome, El Capitan and Bridal Veil Falls. Majestic! Drove to Glacier Point (7214 ft elevation.) Patches of snow on the ground. At top, see view 3214 ft view down to Yosemite Valley below and Nevada Falls (537 ft water drop) and Vernal Falls (317 ft drop), in the distance. Volume of water falling so amazing.
Hiked to base of Bridal Veil Falls (620 ft water drop.)
Overnight at Yosemite View Lodge on the Merced River. Our room & balcony on the roaring river. Room fireplace on, sound of rushing water, giant granite boulders. Great dining room, pizza parlour, pool, spa, and laundry facilities.
