We left Winnemucca and traveled east on I-80 until we got to Wells, NV. As my granddaughter says “after seeing one mile of Nevada you've seen the whole state.” That's a bit of an overstatement, because as we traveled east it began to get greener and greener.
After a gas stop we headed north to Idaho. A quick lunch break in Jackpot, and soon we were in Idaho. Twin Falls is a pretty little city that I've spent a little time in the past, and well worth a few hours in the park along the Snake. As we left, heading north on US-93,We were treated to a great view of of the Snake River Gorge – awesome.
After a few small towns, and a route change we arrived at Craters Of The Moon National Monument. If you're into geology/vulcanology it is amazing. Extinct volcanoes, cinder cones, and massive lava flows. If not, its just a lot of black rocks. (see photo)
Then on to Arco, ID and the KOA. The KOA was friendly and clean, but the Internet access ranged from poor to non-existent. Hopefully, better days ahead.
