We drove to Seward today after it rained all night. The sky began to lighten up as we drove south. By the time we were passing Girdwood it was beautiful. Blue sky, puffy white things, and mid-60s temp.
We visited the Kenai Fjords NP headquarters for a memento or two, then walked around the harbor area. After lunch, we drove up to the Exit Glacier in the NP. A beautiful site.
The Kenai Fjords is best seen by boat. There are several tour companies in town, and the length of each tour varies. We did not plan ahead, and found out, the hard way, that the tours were all booked. It was cruise ship day, and the town was flooded with tourists from the boat. Had we taken the boat, we probably would have seen Whales, or other marine mammals, and Pacific Puffins.
The only critters spied today were the herd of mountain goats that grace the cliffs along the Seward highway.
Dinner, tonight, was a real find. The Lucky Wishbone has been frying chicken in Anchorage since 1955. Just good home-style cooking. It's easy to find as it's on highway 1 as you come into town from Fairbanks (north).
