Corpus Christi bound. Actually stayed in Aransas Pass, just east of CC at The Palms RV Park. On the 9th we drove into Corpus Christi and walked the waterfront/sea wall. Only got in about 2 miles due to rain. We instead hit a local brewery, Railroad Seafood Station Brewing, (not very good beer!). Campground was nice and we had good cable connection so we were able to take in some of the Winter Olympics. On Saturday we drove to the gulf coast and caught the ferry from Aransas Port to Mustang Island/Padre Island. We stopped at a beach access road on Mustang Island just to check it out and were impressed with the wide beaches and all the activity. The beaches are drive on and make for giant parking lots right on the beach. People were surfing, fishing and even flying kites and ultralight planes. We made our way down to the visitor center at Padre Island National Seashore. The sun finally broke out and temperatures climbed into the 70’s. We walked the beach for a couple of miles then drove on a portion of the beach highway, a 60 mile stretch of beach that you can drive/camp on. Most quite primitive after the first 5 miles where 4WD is recommended. Would be neat to come back and boondock. Last stop of the day was another CC Brewery, Lazy Beach Brewing then back for more Olympics at the Campground.
