Hugged the coast on Highway 101, as we headed north to Eugene, Oregon. Early morning coastal clouds and chilly temps.
Saw several elk on the roadside grazing on tender plants in a lagoon.
Lots of logging trucks with massive fresh cut timber.
Blue and white tsunami warning signs and sirens dotted the highway.
Green, green, green here. Many scenic rivers and creeks.
We saw more majestic redwoods as we drove through Redwoods National Park.
Continuing on Highway 101, we had three short traffic delays due to repair work being done on large areas of washed out road. There were sections of road with nail biting curves and steep dropoffs.
We crossed the Umpqua River on our way to Eugene. Overnight in Eugene, Oregon, "Track Town USA." (Nike had it's beginnings here.)
No last minute hotel rooms to be found for sometime because the Summer Olympic Trials start here at the University of Oregon, next week. We are staying near the campus and fortunately made our hotel reservations in January. ("Whew")
