Mel, Bev and John travel to Alaska on their annual summer pilgrimage around the USA!
Click on the points on the map to see what we did at each location.
Just a quick stopover at the Jamestown Campground - a converted KOA - we didn't even unhook - we're just anxious to get up into Canada and really head North! Tomorrow we spend the night in Glasgow, MT before heading up to Canuk Country!
Wild mountain goats eating karoteam off side of road to help with their fur, hooves and horns
This the largest moose we ran across, the rest were tame
Banff is a real special town with tons of shops, eateries site seeing things. We had lunch at this extremely good fondue shop and it was great. I'd go back in a minute
Beautiful scenery everywhere you look.
More beautiful scenery
on the "Old lazy river " inFort MacLeod, Alberta Canada and enjoying the clear blue sky's at 82 degrees (Mel)
A local bar we drove by in Fort Macleod - though I would NOT recommending drinking and flying! (Pic by Mel)
Beautiful ski areas
There are several stores who will let RVers "camp" in their parking lots. Typically you don't unhook, or set up chairs, grills etc. It's free, and we grab supplies at the store. Here's the Safeway parking lot in Hinton.
You can see - parking lot camping is NOT an original idea!
We posed for a photo at mile 0 of the AlCan Highway - but it's certainly not mile 0 of our journey! We stayed in Dawson Creek 3 days - not an overwhelming amount of things to do, but a bit of a respite from traveling hard. Life is tough!
Took a beautiful short hike along the canyon
Land of the midnight sun... and we are still heading West and North
Met "Big AL" at the Downtown Hotel and he is a real true Yukon dude! He has worked at every kind of job there is and knows MANY stories. Mining, construction, birdwatching...you name it...This was taken in Dawson at the SourToe Saloon.
